The Drawing Circus: Grimm Tales

One day, whilst travelling through an ancient wood they stumbled across a great tome of dark stories and upon opening the book the denizens of the pages spilled forth and engulfed...

Whats on over Christmas
Alongside the inevitable festive merrymaking we’ll be continuing to run classes with minimal interruption over Christmas. Because at a time of year when its cold outside and everywhere else is shut where better to be than in a cosy little studio with heaters on full blast…

Pretty Litter
Pretty Litter Magazine recently ran a feature on the Drawing Circus in their end of year issue, thanks to Lyssa for coming along to cover our event and to the wonderful Nick Caro who acted as the magazine’s photographer on the day.
Neat little things to get for Christmas
If you’re shopping for pressies here are a few ideas for some cool little bits and pieces for under a tenner, drawn from within our little life class community (just so that you know that your hard earned xmas pounds are going towards helping a starving artist this Christmas, rather than fueling the evil corporate machine…)
So our top tips are…

Alice in Wonderland themed life drawing for B.I.G
On Tuesday night our New England House studio was transformed into a veritable tea party of drawing wonders, with the Brighton Illustrators Group (BIG) holding its monthly meeting at a specially commissioned Alice in Wonderland themed life drawing session.
Geo Parkin very kindly pointed me towards Michael Munday’s blog about the event, which you can read here; Geo also posted up his own...

My White Night experience was incredible.
The interior of the church was so vast and vaulted that it took very little to ‘transform’ it into a wonderful place of Corporeal delight. The models provided the final addition to the transformation – swathed in white satin fabric they looked…

I had a wonderful time at White Night this year, mostly because I am privileged enough to work with an incredibly talented and efficient team and so had very little to do once everything was rolling. So instead of getting my take on the evening, here is what others had to say…

New Website, new blogging system...
For a few months now this blog has been acting as the main source of online infromation for The Brighton Life Drawing Sessions and Draw. This was only ever a stop gap to tide us over until the fabulous Entente finished our new website; the website still has information yep to be added but is now up and running with a much improved timetable, information about where we run events and the members...
Corporeal: A thank you.
Corporeal, our White Night event this year was a huge success. With an estimated 600 people drawing it was a pleasure to put on; amidst the chaos of West Street on a Saturday night St. Paul’s became a haven of calm.
Thank you to all of the models, you were all incredible and it wouldn’t have been at all possible without you all… Thank you to Jenni and the volunteers team,...

Fig 1. The Golden Ratio (Corporeal flyer front by The Entente)
Each year, as part of the Brighton White Night festival we run a drawing event where we seek to push the boundaries of our figure drawing classes, in 2009 we ran ‘Drawn from the Deck’ at Komedia, in 2010 The Cabinets of Wonder rolled out for ‘Enlightenment’ and this year we bring you ‘Corporeal: A Night...
The Brighton Sketchcrawl
Tea, coffee, fresh air and drawing; Sketchcrawl is back! This Saturday (15th Oct) the Brighton Sketchcrawl will be led by Jake Spicer and Louise Simmons. Anyone is welcome to join the Sketchcrawl; it is free and open to all ages and abilities.
The point of a sketchcrawl is to provide a structure in which we can all draw the sights of our local city along with other sketchers. Just turn up...
